July 1  Saw “Napoli, Brooklyn” by Meghan Kennedy at the Laura Pels Theatre. It is based upon a real-life disaster, the surprise staging of which, is mind shattering! However, the story line has a surfeit of themes added; religious brain-washing, the effect of a bullying husband and father and lesbian freedom. None of these is fully convincing in spite of the excellent acting of the cast.

It seems to me that more and more modern women are taking up yesteryears’ chores and turning them into a decorative art form. Quilting is now a major topic of conversation at family parties. Can sock-darning be far behind? I keep forgetting what relation Jenny Orchard has to me–but she can tell you–another of her interests is genealogy! Here is the lady herself and a selection of her work.

  1. Jenny,
The quilts are wonderful. I live in Pennslyvania in the armish country and they have a long history of quilt making.

    The decorative box is lovely.
    Thanks for sharing
