    October 14 to 21 Cruise - Bermuda
  • theatre and Concerrts

June 13 Picnicked on The Great lawn in central Park to the music of The New York Philharmonic led by James Gaffigan. Great program with spectacular fireworks after the concert. The concert included two pieces composed by students from its education program — remarkable works (Bernstein style) from composers  11 and 12 years old respectively! They took their bows from the stage!

June 20 The forecast rain didn’t happen so, having lined up for senior tickets in the morning, we were able to see an uninterrupted ‘Othello” in Central Park last night. The set and costumes were magnificent and the actors did their best but the direction gave  a somewhat bland production. I personally thought that some players were miscast and this distracted from the illusion.

Fourth of July fireworks and layer cake at Susan’s

Kelsey’s birthday is actually on the 18th July, but since Susan couldn’t make that date or the alternative one Kiowa had suggested, Susan gathered her family around her in York and manufactured a cake to commemorate the occasion.

I say manufactured because Susan, a very, very busy modern lady, had time only to make a basic sponge cake as a base. On top of this she rolled-out a pre-printed decal which she had custom-ordered on-line. The wording and decorative theme delighted young Kelsey who took her good time to blow out the candle. It tasted good too!

I drove in from New York sporting my up-to-date inspection certificate which I had managed to renew only three days late this year, having well in mind the $50 fine I suffered last year!; Big Jeremy (Amy’s husband) and Amy drove half way to New York and back to pick up little Jeremy (Amy’s  son) and Zoe for their summer visit; Kiowa and Christie drove in from Tarrytown with the birthday girl, Kelsey.  Craig drove over from the golf course

No visit to Susan is complete without its trip to the stables to feed carrots to Playdoh and Lulu. The following day (July 4th), all the  younger ones spent the hot day in and around the Club pool, returning home in time to dress for the buffet and fireworks display to be held in the same club. I dozed in the garden.

The next day, we all went in two SUV’s to Strasburg to visit the railway exhibit and to let Kelsey experience lunch in the dining car of an old steam locomotive while it chugged forwards and backwards on a short track.
