July 1  Saw “Napoli, Brooklyn” by Meghan Kennedy at the Laura Pels Theatre. It is based upon a real-life disaster, the surprise staging of which, is mind shattering! However, the story line has a surfeit of themes added; religious brain-washing, the effect of a bullying husband and father and lesbian freedom. None of these is fully convincing in spite of the excellent acting of the cast.

R & R at Atlantic City

Since I am still hobbling a little bit, Christine and I took our folding chairs to Atlantic City and sat on the beach and enjoyed two inactive days in the sun. I leisurely sketched while Christine read her book.  On the second day, Christine’s niece, Stefanie, and her husband, David, came to join us from a nearby town where they were vacationing. We all shared a long-drawn-out dinner of mussels, clams and calamari, with appropriate wines. Most enjoyable!
