July 1  Saw “Napoli, Brooklyn” by Meghan Kennedy at the Laura Pels Theatre. It is based upon a real-life disaster, the surprise staging of which, is mind shattering! However, the story line has a surfeit of themes added; religious brain-washing, the effect of a bullying husband and father and lesbian freedom. None of these is fully convincing in spite of the excellent acting of the cast.

Kelsey’s Christmas

Kiowa and Christie invited me to spend Christmas  with them this year. The guest list included Susan and Craig ( who motored from York, PA), John and Carol ( Christie’s parents) and a host of friends and relatives who popped in for the lavish brunch which the Crawfords had provided earlier on Christmas day.

But, this was  Kelsey’s day–the adults largely contented themselves with helping her open her mountain of gifts and enjoying the innocent wonder of a 4-year-old. The gifts included a puppet theatre and cast of puppets–I was assigned the lead puppet character, the Frog prince, (You can guess who played the Princess).  However, the action was not confined to the theatre: hide and seek was on the playlist. As, also was a game in which the Princess, on the count of four, dived onto my torso from the arm of the couch! Most exhilarating!

Her catalogue of expressions I will post separately following this one.
